1. Alien
Alien is a 1979 science fiction horror film.
Based on a story by O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett, it follows the crew of the
commercial space tug Nostromo who encounters the eponymous Alien, a deadly and
aggressive extraterrestrial set loose on the ship. It was met with critical
acclaim and box office success, winning the Academy Award for Best Visual
Effects. It has been consistently praised in the years since its release. And it
is considered one of the greatest films of all time.
2. Ready
Player One
Ready Player One is a 2018 American science
fiction adventure film. The film takes place in 2045, when much of humanity
uses the virtual reality software OASIS (Ontologically Anthropocentric Sensory
Immersive Simulation) to escape the desolation of the real world. Orphaned
teenager Wade Watts (Sheridan) discovers clues to a hidden game within the
program that promises the winner full ownership of the OASIS, and joins several
allies to try to complete the game before a large company run by businessman
Nolan Sorrento (Mendelsohn) can do so.
3. Edge
of Tomorrow
Edge of Tomorrow is a 2014 American science
fiction action film. The film takes place in a future where most of Europe is
invaded by an alien race. Major William Cage, a public relations officer with
no combat experience, is forced by his superiors to join a landing operation
against the aliens. Though Cage is killed in combat, he finds himself in a time
loop that sends him back to the day preceding the battle every time he dies,
with some memory of events. Cage teams up with Special Forces warrior Rita
Vrataski to improve his fighting skills through the repeated days, while
looking for a way to defeat the extraterrestrial invaders.
4. Parasyte
Parasyte is a 2014 Japanese science fantasy
action horror film. This film is about mysterious aliens called
"Parasites" suddenly begin their invasion when some of them infect
humans by entering their brains. One of them attempts to enter the brain of high
school student Shinichi Izumi, but resorts to infecting his right hand after
failing to bypass his headphones. Thanks to this way of entry, Shinichi retains
his human consciousness, unlike the other victims. This movie is divided into 2
parts. It would be interesting to see what happen when the parasite and human
are in the same body and how they get along.
5. The
Hunger Games
The Hunger Games is an American dystopian
science fiction-adventure film. The story takes place in a dystopian
post-apocalyptic future in the nation of Panem, where a boy and a girl from
each of the nation's 12 Districts is chosen annually as "tributes"
and forced to compete in The Hunger Games, an elaborate televised fight to the
death. Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her younger sister's place, and with
her district's male tribute, Peeta Mellark, travels to the Capitol to train and
compete in the games.
