Pride Month is coming again. This special month is to memorize the Stonewall Riot and raise awareness about the current state of LGBTQ human rights and how their respective organizations are working to protect and advocate for those rights. Pride Month in this year means differently to us because of the COVID-19. We’ve collected up some of LGBTQ YA books for you to read in Pride Month. Some are brand new, some are for YA classics, but all of them are classical reads you should definitely check out.
1. What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera
This book mainly tells a story between Arthur and Ben. Arthur is only in New York for the summer, but if Broadway has taught him anything, it’s that the universe can deliver a showstopping romance when you least expect it. If the universe had his back, he wouldn’t be on his way to the post office with a box of his ex-boyfriend’s things. But what if they can’t nail a first date even after three do-overs? What if Arthur tries too hard to make it work and Ben doesn’t try hard enough? Life really isn’t like a Broadway play.
Living in a small town where magic is not welcomed, Sam spends time with his friends James and Delia in their school’s magic club to see him through to graduation. But once senior year begins, there are little cracks showing in their group: Sam may or may not be in love with James. Delia is growing more disappointed with their amateur magic club. And James complains that he got mixed up with some sketchy magickers over the summer. With so many fault lines threatening to derail his hopes for the year, Sam is forced to recognize the fact that the very love of magic that brought his group together is now tearing them apart—and there are some problems that no amount of magic can fix.
3. We Are Totally Normal by Rahul Kanakia

Still, Nandan is willing to give try at a relationship with him. But the more his anxiety grows about what his sexuality means for himself, friends and his social life, the more he wonders whether he can just take it all back. Is breaking up with Dave—the only person who’s ever really known about him—worth feeling “normal” again?

Magic passed down through generations. An island where strange things happen. One summer that will become legend. Georgina Fernweh waits impatiently for the tingle of magic in her fingers—magic that has touched every woman in her family. But with her eighteenth birthday looming at the end of this summer, Georgina fears her gift will never come. Over the course of her last summer on the island—a summer of storms, falling in love, and the mystery behind one rare three-hundred-year-old bird—Georgina will learn the truth about magic, in all its many forms.
