One of the attracting characteristics that make him an outstanding actor is his persistent and strong passion for acting. He was born in 1948, which means that he is 70-year-old now. He began his first performance on stage in 1976. 1. The Hitman's Bodyguard
This film is starred by Ryan Reynolds playing the bodyguard and Samuel L. Jackson playing the hitman. Both of them have been already well-known in the movie industry. The movie is about the world's top bodyguard, Michael protects the notorious incarcerated hitman, Darius to testify at the International Criminal Court, the one making Michael lose his job and stylish life. You will be amused by how such two different characters work together in this movie and create so much fun out of their conflicts and fights between them.
2. Against the Wall
This movie is based on a true story of the Attica Prison uprising of 1971. The uprising was one of the most well-known and significant uprisings of the Prisoners' Rights Movement. This movie was nominated a Golden Globe Award for Jackson. The most appealing point about this movie is the wary friendship between the rookie prison guard Michael Smith (Kyle Maclachlan) and the inmate Jamaal X (Samuel L. Jackson). Smith is an expectant father who decided to become a corrections officer because of the pay. The black militant Jamaal arrives soon after when he starts his new job at the prison. Prison guards treat the prisoners abusively and basic needs are ignored. In the uprising of the prison, Smith is taken down by the prisoners, but Jamaal considers him as a kindred spirit. Afterward, they work together in the negotiation with the government based on their dehumanized conditions. Critics felt the movie was compelling and praised the cast for its performance.
3. Jackie Brown
Jackie Brown is a 1997 American Neo-noir crime thriller film. The film garnered Golden Globe Award nominations for Jackson. In this movie, Jackson plays the role of Ordell Robbie, who is a black-market gun runner. He arranges a middle-aged flight attendant Jackie Brown to smuggle his money and Cocaine from Mexico into the United States. Jackie finds herself in the middle of a huge conflict that will either make her a profit or cost her life. When Jackie is sent to jail, Ordell thinks she may be a threat and try to kill her after she is back home. Then Jackie negotiates a deal with Ordell to help him get the money. Samuel L. Jackson named his character of Ordell Robbie as one of his favorite roles.
4. Unbreakable
Unbreakable is a 2000 American superhero thriller film. In Unbreakable, a security guard named David Dunn (Willis) survives a horrific train crash, leading to him discovering that he harnesses superhuman abilities, which in turn introduces him to comic book store owner Elijah Price (Jackson), who uses a wheelchair. Elijah proposes to David about his childhood theory of real-life superheroes. Apart from superhuman ability in strength, David also finds out that he has a natural "instinct" for picking out dangerous people. And he finds out Elijah is the one responsible for numerous high-profile "accidents including the bombing of David's train. At last, David reported Elijah's terrorist attacks to the police and Elijah was placed in a psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane. This is a film taking the audience through unpredictable twists and turns along the way.
5. Lakeview Terrace
Lakeview Terrace is a 2008 American crime thriller film written by David Loughery and Howard Korder, and co-produced by Will Smith, and starring Samuel L. Jackson, Patrick Wilson and Kerry Washington. Jackson plays a prejudiced LAPD police officer who terrorizes his new next-door neighbors because they are an interracially married couple. The title is a reference to the ethnically-mixed middle-class Los Angeles neighborhood of Lake View Terrace. This film focuses on racial disharmony and distrust. According to Rotten Tomatoes critical consensus reads, “This thriller about a menacing cop wreaking havoc on his neighbors is tense enough but threatens absurdity when it enters into excessive potboiler territory”.
6. The Avengers
If you are a huge Marvel fan, then you cannot miss this one as Jackson is in this movie playing Nick Fury, director of the super-spy agency, S.H.I.E.L.D. The Avengers, is a 2012 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. It is the sixth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the film, Nick Fury, director of the spy agency S.H.I.E.L.D., recruits Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner, and Thor to form a team that must stop Thor's brother Loki from subjugating Earth. In 2017, it was featured as one of the 100 greatest films of all time in Empire magazine's poll of The 100 Greatest Movies.
