Maroon 5 has just dropped a brand new song named Payphone
online featuring the rap star Wiz Khalifa, the first sonic taste of Maroon 5‘s
new album Overexposed. The song is
anchored by singer (and ‘The Voice‘
coach) Adam Levine‘s airy falsetto and plenty of backbeats. There are beats and
synths, with Levine’s high register asserting itself. Payphone is buoyant and catchy — it’ll have you tapping those toes and singing,
albiet Maroon 5’s bitter tone: “I’m at a
pay phone trying to call home / All of my change I’ve spent on you / Where are
the times gone baby / It’s all wrong, we’re at the place we made for two / If
happy ever after / Did exist / I would still be holding you like this / All
those fairytales are full of it / One more stupid love song / I’ll be sick.”
Now, they’ve gone all out on a masterfully colorful lyric video for the track. If
you are a fan of comic books, you may just want to take a few minutes and
watch. In typical comic book fashion, Adam Levine and the rest of the gang of
Maroon 5 have become transformed into “superheroes” that save the day. Freely listen
and watch the lyric video bellow. And for your likeness, you can free download Maroon 5 –Payphone lyric video to your computer or portable media players and enjoy
it unlimited.
