The
rock band Linkin Park just premiered
a brand new single Burn It Down, the
lead single of their forthcoming fifth studio album Living Things co-produced by Rick
Rubin and LP’s Mike Shinoda to be out on June 26th this year. “Burn
It Down” utilizes the now tried-and-true Linkin Park formula of starting with
Chester Bennington singing, usually in some kind of psychic pain, and then the
song escalates into a twisted metal mass and then Shinoda comes in with a rap
at some point. If the band does its job right, there’s usually a great sense of
catharsis that creep in by the end of the song. Bennington’s lyrics still rebel
against some ambiguous kind of tyrant, with his characteristic lyrical musings:
“Oh can you feel it / When you take a
look in the sky / All that I steal is / The one thing I couldn’t find / And you
were there / And begun / Waiting to let me go,” he croons in the first
verse. Aside of the new single release, Mike also gave the news that the band
would be touring with Incubus on the upcoming Honda Civic Tour, kicking off
August 11th with tickets going on sale April 27th. Freely listen to Burn It
