Christmas is just around the corner. Christmas is a festival that we
want to spend time with our family. And I am sure you definitely would like to
enjoy some movies of Christmas theme with your family. Today, this article has
picked out 5 movies for you to enjoy a happy time on the couch cozily with
family.
1. Home Alone
The first one I would like to recommend is a 1990 American comedy film,
which tells an eight-year-old boy Kevin who is mistakenly left behind in the
house while the others of the family fly to Paris for Christmas holiday. At
first, Kevin feels fun and happy to stay home alone as all he is thinking about
is freedom. Then he gets into trouble as there are 2 burglars who are trying
to steal things from Kevin’s home. Though as a child, Kevin is not preparing to
be a coward and he decides to stand out and protect his precious family on his
own.
2. Edward Scissorhands
Here comes a classic romantic film I would like to recommend in the
second of the list, which stars Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder. Johnny Depp plays
an artificial man named Edward, an unfinished creation who has scissor blades
instead of hands. The young man is taken in by a suburban family and falls in
love with their teenage daughter Kim, the role of Winona Ryder. During
Christmas, Edward carves an angelic ice sculpture modeled after Kim; the ice
shavings are thrown into the air and fall like snow, a rarity for the
neighborhood. Kim dances in the snowfall.
3. It's a Wonderful Life
This is a 1946 American Christmas fantasy drama film which is based on
the short story and booklet The Greatest Gift, which Philip Van Doren Stern
wrote in 1939 and published privately in 1943. The reason why I would like to
recommend this one is because it is one of the most beloved movies in American
cinemas and it is a traditional viewing movie during the Christmas season. George
Bailey has given up his dream in order to help others, was about to suicide on the
Christmas Eve and gets intervened by his guardian angel Clearance, who shows
George all the lives he has touched and how different life in his community
would be if he had never been born. This film, though performing quite poor at
the box office of that time, has become a classic and a staple of Christmas
television all over the world.
4. The Nightmare Before
Christmas
This film is a 1993 American stop slow-motion animated musical Halloween-Christmas
dark fantasy film and also originated in a poem written by Burton while he was
working as an animator at Walt Disney Feature Animation. It tells the story of
the Jack, the king of “Halloween Town” which is a fantasy world filled with
various monsters and supernatural beings associated with the holiday, who
stumbles through a portal to “Christmas Town”, and decides to celebrate the
holiday as he has grown weary of the same routine year after year and he wants
something new.
5. Batman Returns
Batman Returns is a 1992 American superhero film based on the DC Comics
character Batman. This film is about Batman returns to the big screen when a
deformed man calling himself the Penguin wreaks havoc across Gotham with the
help of a cruel businessman. The story begins 33 years ago at Christmas time in
a mansion in Gotham City. The wealthy Cobblepots have just given birth to a
child - but it is shown that there is something horribly wrong with the child.
They soon decide to abandon the child by dropping it into the sewers. As the
baby's basket rushes through the sewers, the credits roll, and eventually the the child comes to rest at the feet of a group of Emperor Penguins from the zoo.
