Apple iPhone 5S is reported to have a “Killer Feature” to surprise fans

iPhone 5S
HTC, Sony, and Samsung have all had their big reveals for new flagship devices, and Motorola/Google is still a couple months away from Google I/O and whatever announcement is made there. So, that means it's time for analysts to come back out and talk about Apple. The newest bit of "analysis" says that the iPhone 5S (but really iOS) will have a new "killer feature", which seems like a pretty obvious thing for Apple to aim at providing.

Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty may be a bit more reliable of a source, because she has recently met with Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer. Huberty is saying that "Apple will surprise this year" with "a killer feature that drives consumers increasingly to the platform”. She said that the feature would start on the iPhone 5S, but made it clear that whatever the improvement, it would be a software feature, because it would increase "the value of those 500 million [Apple] accounts."

Apple to release an iPhone 5S with A7 chip and fingerprint security and a cheaper fiberglass model in June?

The reports about the next iPhone have been everywhere online. There’re rumors reporting that iPhone 5S would be announced in August previously. But now, Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, who has correctly predicted quite a few Apple's plans before, now restates that Cupertino is aiming to launch both a souped-up iPhone 5S, and a more affordable iPhone in June.
iPhone 5S
The iPhone 5S might look and feel like the current Apple flagship, but upgraded with a more powerful A7 SoC, dual LED flash with alternative coloring, which we've heard about before, as well as a fingerprint security method, integrated after its acquiring of AuthenTec last year for $356 million.

The cheaper iPhone is going to add some bulk and heft compared to the premium device, and the chassis is allegedly going to be fused out of fiberglass and plastic.

It will sport LTE radio, but the analyst thinks Apple will be having tailored versions for different carriers like the TD-SCDMA China Mobile, rather than slap Qualcomm's newly-announced chip that combines all radios under the sun: "RF360's customers are OEMs who have no capability to design RF front end and PA by themselves," mentioned the analyst.

The iPhone 5S is also going to arrive in a version for China Mobile subscribers, but the analyst expects the network testing procedures to be done at a later date than the global July launch, namely around September this year, which will serve as a huge boost for the iPhone 5S holiday quarter sales.

Samsung to release Snapdragon 600 Galaxy S IV in US and Exynos 5 Octa Galaxy S IV in Europe?

For a long time of rumoring and reporting, what we know about the exact details of the next Samsung Galaxy now is that Samsung will announce Galaxy S IV on March 14th on the Samsung media event. As for the specs of the rumored-to-be-called Samsung Galaxy S IV, from the previous reports, we know this smartphone would be coming with a 4.99" FHD (1920x1080 pixels) Solux screen display, quad-core processor, three different models (16GB, 32GB and 64GB), and some other minor features. The processor of this smartphone has been rumored a lot. Many people expect Samsung Galaxy S IV to be featuring a Samsung Exynos 5 Octa processor, though some rumors suggested the Samsung Galaxy S IV might be out with Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor.

According to the latest news, Samsung would announce different models of CPU for Galaxy S IV in different regions. It is reported that Samsung Galaxy S IV would use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 in the United States, and a Samsung Exynos 5 Octa in Europe and other places of the world where LTE is not that widespread, according to a recent JPMorgan note. For the Snapdragon 600, Samsung might be placing orders with TSMC, the foundry that uses its 28nm process to make Qualcomm’s chip. All this might be of a big benefit to TSMC and one more reason why the company expects stronger than usual Q1 revenue. Of course, for the detailed specs of Samsung Galaxy S IV, we still need to wait for the March 14th Samsung Galaxy event.
