The music superstar Beyoncé has premiered her video for "I Was Here" on coinciding with World Humanitarian Day to encourage people around the world to make a difference. I Was Here is the Diane Warren-penned track from her critically-acclaimed album '4'. The single is being used to raise awareness for World Humanitarian Day and the video was shot at the United Nations General Assembly Hall, teaming up with the United Nations. Knowles is credited on the vocal production. "I Was Here" is a reflective ballad, in which Knowles vulnerably reviews her past, wanting to leave an impact on the world before her life comes to an end. The song's development was motivated by the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States. The inspirational song features lyrics such as, “The hearts I have touched, will be the proof that I leave that I made a difference, and this world will see.” The video "I Was Here" was taped in front of a live audience at the U.N. General Assembly on Aug. 10, featuring Beyoncé dressed in a long flowing white dress in front of a large screen that projected images of humanitarian workers.
