According to the news, NBC (the National Broadcasting Company) has been partnering with
Twitter and Facebook to live stream of every Olympic competition, which counts
to be more than 3.500 hours of live video. This has been quite amazing news for
all people to freely watch the live show of London 2012 Summer Olympic Games. But there’s fatal disappointing
news from NBC that it won’t live stream the opening and closing ceremonies of
this summer Olympic Games. “It was never
our intent to live stream the Opening Ceremony or Closing Ceremony,” said
Gary Zenkel, president of NBC Olympics in a statement announcing the decision.
“They are complex entertainment
spectacles that do not translate well online because they require context,
which our award-winning production team will provide for the large primetime
audiences that gather together to watch them.”
That’s really a disappointment to all, even
though NBC promised it will make clips and highlights of both ceremonies
available online after airing. Fans could then watch clips and highlights of the
two ceremonies online, not live stream. Still, NBC tells fans who need to stay
up-to-date with live coverage of the ceremonies and competitions that they can
look to Twitter, which will
provide an Olympics events page with tweets from althletes, families and fans
updating in real-time.
But only Twitter is far from enough for
